5:30 -8:30-Charlie D and The Things-50s and 60s Rock and Roll through today's Top 40 hits along with tropical rock music, such as Jimmy Buffett, John Frinzi, and Jim Morris.

Displays and Activities:

  • 3:30 to 5:30 -Come dressed for water fun on the lawn of Pocahontas Park…Two water slides and a giant slip and slide … plus, the Fire Department will have their hoses turned on!  Be prepared to dress appropriately (proper footwear as well) and bring along a towel for the water events. The slides will continue “dry” from 5:30-8:30....PLUS two bounce houses on the street. $5.00 a wrist band for 5 hours of playtime!
  • 3:30 to 5:30-Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Meet and Greet with 6 different animal and reptile selections
  • 3:30-8:30-Dunk Tank. Dunk your favorite person for $1.00 a dunk - partial proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club
  • 3:30 to 8:30- Arts & Crafts Fair inside the Heritage Center. Free juice from Natalie’s Orchid Island Orange Juice
  • 3:30-8:30 -A myriad of booths and food vendors …A wide range of ice cream booths will be offering cool treats for the young and old...
  • 3:30-8:30-Enjoy cornhole games for all ages
  • 3:30-3:30-Under the tent, on the patio of the Heritage Center-Information and handouts by the Fire Department and free food and drink coupons from McDonalds
  • 3:30 – 8:30 -Sponsor Seacoast National will be passing out hand fans to cool you off, coloring contest to win a $50 savings bond at their booth and children can decorate sun visors all for free..plus meet their mascot Seacoaster Sam the Dinosaur.  Great photo opps!
  •  3:30-8:30 -The Charity of the evening is Boys & Girls Club.  Visit their booth and register for a raffle and give-a-ways, plus children can enjoy some arts and crafts…all for free!

Water Fun, Live Music & Special Guests Highlight
Downtown Friday’s “Summer in the City”-Friday, July 30th

 

Downtown Friday’s “Summer in the City” will be held Friday, July 30 offering a wide range of family fun sure to delight every age group.  The community is invited to come, play, meet and mingle and cool off in historic Downtown Vero Beach!

The unique feature of this month’s street party will no doubt be for children of all ages. Children can come dressed for water fun from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. On the lawn of Pocahontas Park, just south of the Heritage Center, two Water Slides and a giant Slip and Slide will be awaiting those children ready to cool off from the hot summer sun. For a nominally priced $5.00 wrist band, endless fun is in store for 5 hours. The IRC Fire Rescue will have their hoses turned on to add to the wet and splashing fun.  Everyone on the lawn should be prepared to dress appropriately (proper footwear as well) and bring along a towel for the water events. For those who wish to stay dry, fear not.  Two bounce houses will be on the street from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m.  A dunk tank, for $1.00 and three balls, will cool off your favorite friend, teacher, politician or parent, as you try your luck to dunk them in the nice cool water. Partial proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club.

 

There’s always great music at Downtown Friday. From 3:30-5:30, Downtown Friday introduces DJ & Dance Productions with your favorite tunes, dancing, hula-hoop contests, karaoke and more.  Immediately following, from 5:30 -8:30 is Charlie D and The Things, playing 50s and 60s Rock and Roll through today's Top 40 hits along with tropical rock music, such as Jimmy Buffett, John Frinzi, and Jim Morris.

Special guests and entertainment will be intertwined throughout the entire event and include a Meet & Greet with Busch Wildlife Sanctuary from 3:30-5:30 on 14th Avenue. During the 4:15 DJ break learn all about Martial Arts with demonstrations by The Forge Mixed Martial Arts Studio.  From 6-7 inside the cool Heritage Center, kids may enjoy a Meet and Greet with Ronald McDonald while he performs magic tricks and hands out free stickers. At the 6:15 band break, students from StarStruck Performing Arts Center in Stuart perform a few selections from their August 7th children’s production of Songs For A New World and at the 7:15 band break, the City of Vero Beach Recreation Department Aerial Antics Circus Performers will thrill the crowds.

Downtown Friday Booth Space Available

“Downtown Friday’s Summer in the City” will be held on Friday, July 30th, one block north from its usual location on 14th Avenue in historic downtown Vero Beach. The hours of the events are extended as well, come at 3:30 and stay until 8:30 p.m. and enjoy all the festivities. This special summer fun, family event will feature wet and dry bounce houses and water slides, music, an arts and crafts vendor show inside the Heritage Center, special family activities, lots of food and cold drinks as well as the Downtown Friday Beer Garden.

If you are an Arts and Crafts vendor and wish to move indoors at the Heritage Center, the cost is $45 per booth for the five hour event.  Jewelry vendors will be limited so call early to Dee Morton at 388-4216.

Local businesses, non-profit organizations and political candidates are invited to partake in all the fun by renting a booth space along 14th Avenue and 21st Street to reach a crowd which regularly draws several thousand people of all ages. Food vendors are by invitation only. 

“Downtown Friday” will supply a 10 ft. by 10 ft. space on a first-come first served basis. There is very limited access to electricity, and tents (which are encouraged), tables and chairs are not provided. No sale or give-a-ways of food or beverage is allowed unless you have signed up as a food vendor.  Sale of merchandise and promotion of your business, as well as give-a-ways and prize drawings are encouraged. No helium balloons are allowed. Main Street Vero Beach members and non profits will be charged $35.00 and Non-Members $75.00 which includes a one-year membership to Main Street. Politicians will be charged $100 for a booth as no political solicitations are allowed. If electric is provided, an additional $10 will be charged the vendor. Proceeds are to benefit the growth and preservation of downtown Vero Beach.  Interested participants may mail a check with their name and contact information to Main Street Vero Beach, P.O.
